In early 1998, a group of Sentra SE-R enthusiasts began using the SE-R mailing list to put together the idea of a “big meet.” Discussion began in the early part of the year on where to hold this massive event. After much debate, enthusiasts in the southern California area stepped up to the plate and began organizing the event. It would take place in the Los Angeles, CA area on Saturday, June 20th, 1998 and continue through Sunday, June 21st. The event started at the Stillen headquarters on Saturday. Sunday was followed up by a picnic and car show. Below is a summary of the event by Zak Nilsson:
Just a quick note,
Sunday was very successful, IMHO…Lots of vendors showed up, including JUN, Apex, DPR, Place Racing and Hotshot.. The raffle was wildly successful…there were some GREAT prizes. Tons of gift certificates from Stranos and DPR, APEX donated an APEXi diagnostic unit (retails for ~$400 I think), there were Hotshot headers, JWT ECU, Eibach springs (I won those!), shirts, keychains, two JUN flywheels, and much more.
Tha car show was cool, everybody had an info sheet in their windshield describing their car and mods, and everybody was given a ballot to vote for the best in each category: NX2000, Classic, 200SX, Best Engineered and Best of Show. If I remember correctly, Mike Kojima won best of show, Searl won both Best 200SX and Best Engineered, I won Best NX2000 and I honestly (and sadly) can’t remember the name of the guy who won best Classic…it was really clean though, very nice.
There were 4 turbo SR20s there: Searl’s, mine, Chris’, with a GTIR DET in a Sentra E, and David Graas’ DET powered Classic (Batmobile), and there were over 100 people there overall.
JUN has some truly killer gear, I suggest people start checking out what they have to offer.
